Sevilla’s New Coach Next Season May Be…

By: Ryan | April 24th, 2008

I tell myself time and time again to NEVER trust anything that comes out of the Spanish papers unless EVERYONE of them reports it. But even then I don’t believe anything until I see it with my own eyes.

This comes from my experience with Sevilla midfielder Christian Poulsen who was ’signed sealed and delivered’ to Barcelona. And upon a press conference to discuss it, Poulsen said. ‘What?’

Today’s latest piece of gossip to strike me deals with my beloved Sevilla, and a possible coaching change at the end of the season….with

Quique Sanchez Flores???

Really, QQ? I know that Manolo Jimenez might not be the greatest person in the world for the job, but I think we can find someone else. I can just see Sanchez coming in and mucking everything up at Sevilla next season?

According to Mundo Deportivoaccording to some people close to QQ, there exists a ‘verbal pact’ for Flores to be the next Sevilla coach. Just like you were supposed to pay your friend 1,000 dollars when he attemped to do a backflip into your pool when you were 11 and he snapped his neck. You didn’t pay up, did you?

But then again, I don’t know. I thought Jimenez was going to take over at Sevilla for years to come, but he just doesn’t seem to fit in. For some reason, we start winning games 4-1 and 3-2 and play well. But then the next week, we get knocked down a peg with a 4-1 trashing.

But who knows? I’ll believe it when I see it.

At least it’s not Koeman…or should I say TinTin, as Cesar oh so lovingly refers to him.

I like Quique. But I also thought Marcellino and Emery were in for the Sevilla job as well.
