Sevilla-Betis Liveblog!! The Sevilla Derby is here!!!

By: Ryan | January 6th, 2008

I’ll be attempting to Liveblog the Sevilla derby depending on how much my signal lets me post.

Notes: De Sanctis will be in net as Palop is out with an injury. The stadium is FULL and loud. I can’t wait to see this game.

The lineup

De Sanctis
Alves–Mosquera–Escude–Drago
Navas–Keita–Poulson–Capel
Fabiano–Kanouté

I’ll write updates at the half, I’d rather watch the game and take it all in. I may post some comments!

Luis Fabiano scored on a goal that Diego Maradona would have been proud of.

On a Capel cross Fabiano ‘heads’ the ball in with his hand, but the goal stands. Sevilla 1-Fetis 0

Luis Fabiano again right before the end of the half on an actual header this time.

    Sevilla 2 – Fetis 0

Dani Alves’ pass on that 2nd Fabiano goal was jaw dropping

As a Betis fan from the early 90s this game was just…silly. Sevilla deserved to win, but a team able to cover just a little space on defense and anticipate, say, a cross or two would have seen 0-0. Betis stink and look worse than an Coca-Cola Championship side–really, I saw Stoke v. Newcastle today too and Stoke would beat Betis–but Sevilla’s no giant killer.

Hating Sevilla only slightly less than Real Madrid, I look forward to Spurs taking all of your players. Yeah, yeah, I’ll enjoy that as Betis goes down…maybe down will get de Lopera sent back to hell.

    Musho Betis!

Alves was immense. Couldn’t decide on my MotM – Alves or Fabiano?
