I know aquismania. but looking into the future (10 years) i hope we can challenge for the title without the help of an arab oil sheik. The only way we can do that is by holding on to our stars. Good news about Gamez.

i would have liked to challenge real and barca but they are world powers and look at their signings, all i want is to finish 3rd which means we are the best team in spain after best 2 considering real and barca are the top 2 and fuck their money, I want to beat them this season

now that we signed jesus gamez yesterday our right side is now a whole christian one i mean two jesus' on it, and they were right to be called jesus as they are wingers both navas and gamez and we all know jesus himself was a winger because he nails all his crosses
I love you sevilla

I agree SRH. The point i was trying to make is we need to start holding on to these players if we want to challenge for the title and permanently become a big team (sorry Anthony, but we aren't on the same level as barca or the mierda.) I know that we came third last year with and injury ravaged team but we only just won a lot of games and nearly missed out on the champions league and if we were a bit unlucky we could have missed out on europe. So we need a more potent goal scoring force to become great and although financially we do not have enough i think if we sell off players we dont really need like Maresca and maybe and one of our left wingers (Capel-i know u don't like the sound of that but for adriano we wont get as much and with perotti how much playing time will he get.)So to summarise we need fabiano to score goals and keeping him will do us more good than selling him.

hey theo,

im not saying i dont WANT fabiano to stay. or that a big team wouldnt keep him. im saying that sevilla's fiscal reality is that they cant afford to pass up on big sales like fabiano, dani alvez etc. if they continue to qualify for and do well in the champs league, if they nip real or barcelona next year to finish second or even challenge for the title, if they win a couple more king's cups then these achievements will help their brand will grow. they'll get bigger revenue streams and it'll be more likely that they could afford to keep their best players.

so we agree. im just pointing out that as much as we might like, sevilla IS NOT a big budget team like those it manages (through prudent ownership/management) to compete with, and therefore has to be prudent with its signings and sales.

and i really dont know who we'd find to replace his firepower up front. but id be very unhappy if he left and we just sat still hoping that chevanton and kone could fill in.

to be devil's advocate to myself, one could make the argument that this is a really critical year for the club given our qualification for the champs league, and keeping fabiano on the team may have a particularly important effect on our performance there which could then generate exactly the type of name recognition/marketing that im rambling about... anyway.. somewhere in all that incoherence is a point. maybe you can dig it out.

bottom line: go sevilla! cant wait for this season to start!

SRH i agree with ur third point but if we do want to become a big club we have to hold on to some of these names and although we dont get the money clubs like the mierda do. we need to sell some keep others to gradually join the top two. About Fabiano i dont think we can sell him because he is just too important to our team even if chevanton does decide playing football is what he wants to do and it'll be a few years before acosta matures and he isnt an all out strike and kone isnt tthe same calibre as fabiano. Therefore fabiano must stay.
And Welcome Back Anthony.

welcome back! i know ive missed your updates.

a couple additions.

1) actually our first signing was this 21-year-old nigerian anya... interesting story. got dropped from the premiership and somehow got a second chance. doubt he'll have an impact with the big club though... so its not unreasonable to have left him out. but a cool story.

2) as for selling fabiano... i agree. i dont like selling a player like that. and i look at the money being offered to guys like david villa. i mean... he's great, and younger, but is he TWICE the player fabiano is? i hope you're right and they hold out for 30 million.

3) but if they DO sell him for 30, i'll understand. the fact is that sevilla MUST sell players like dani alvez, sergio ramos, and perhaps fabiano to generate the money necessary to make the 2nd tier signings like zokoro, gamez etc. we dont have the revenue streams that teams like man utd, real, barca, chelsea, ac milan have. as much as i love sevilla, the club is simply not an international brand the way the others are. and they compete by playing the market. buy low, sell high. so its sad to say goodbye to fabiano, especially on the brink of the champs league, but he's played fantastically for us, and in the end we're making somewhere between double and triple what we initially paid.

4) if we DO sell fabiano. i WILL be VERY pissed if we dont find an adequate replacement. i wish we'd gone after negredo who is back to real madrid now (though i have no clue what they're expecting to do with him).

again. welcome back! hope travels went well
