Dear Milan, NO FABIANO FO’ YOU!
By: Anthony | July 15th, 2009
Everyone knows that we have the best negotiator in the world as out president and yes folks, he’s at his good ol’ tricks again.
Over the years José María del Nido has made Sevilla Fútbol Club, a very rich one. I don’t know if it’s his strong-willed nature and stubbornness or if he’s just a damn good negotiator but the numbers speak for themselves really; Dani Alves for 36 € million, Baptista for 25 €, Reyes for 30 € million, Sergio Ramos 27 € million + VAT of buy-out clause.
Those aren’t Ronaldo-esque transfer sums but they’re pretty significant amounts for that small club from Andalucía.
So anyone who knows anything about fútbol and the ongoing saga’s of this summer will know that Italian giants, AC Milan are interested in bringing our star Brasilian, OFabuloso or better known as Luis Fabiano to the San Siro.
Fabiano has become quite the hot property since his great success in the Confederations Cup where he came out with a first place medal and the golden boot as a result of being the leading goal scorer. He has had no shortage of admirers but Milan seemed to be his preferential choice of destination if he had to leave Nervión. Newspapers were very deceiving when they quoted Luis as someone who wanted to leave us because he only said that it would be an honour to play for Milan but he would have no problems staying with us because he loves the people, the city and most importantly, Sevilla Fútbol Club.
Well it looks like he will be staying with us after all as Del Nido has once again opened that infamous mouth of his and spoken out to put unnecessary rumours to rest.
“Milan do not have the money to acquire Luis Fabiano.” “The first offer we received was worthy of a reserve team player.”
This man cracks me up, how can you not laugh at that? A good negotiator by day, a stand up comedian by night. Love it. But wait, there’s more…
“Luis has renewed his contract with us. I think he will remain in Seville for the next two years.=”
Yup, that’s right ladies and gentlemen, OFabuloso will be staying in Nervión. After the past week of me and my fellow Sevillistas worrying about where one of our few last prized possessions would be spending next season, we can definitely breathe a bit easier as we know he will be suiting up in the famous rojiblanco.
With Zokora and Gámez already arriving this window, Del Nido and Monchi are assembling a squad which they believe will allow us to compete in next season’s Champions League and letting Luis Fabiano go, especially for those cheap offers that AC were offering would have been criminal. Thankfully he isn’t going anywhere and with Del Nido’s statements we can definitely be assured of a very promising season to come.
¡¡¡VAMOS MI SEVILLA!!!

EL PUKKI!

I know of him but do you think he’ll grow up to be a world class striker? I really know nothing about him.

I doubt he’ll be world class – world class players are already playing first team football at the age of 19-20 (ex. Messi, Bojan et al). Negredo would be a good buy but we would face serious stiff competition from various other Spanish and English clubs.

I keep hearing good things about Pukki. I’m pretty sure he’ll get more games this season. And in regards to other players, I’m an admirer of Luis Suárez at Ajax. But I’m pretty sure his price tag will be a bit too high for our budget and might not enjoy being a 3rd or 4th choice striker.

I trust in sevilla’s youth squad, the academy will keep on producing youngsters that we will sell to real for 30m and yet they dont live up to their price tag, baptista left sevilla for 25m and then left madrid to roma for a mere 8m

i wish there is a chance for sevilla to sign cruz as a back up striker for our duo

Anthony i think he needs to be kone standard in the next 2-3 years if hes gonna be a great striker.

Aquismaia you’ve got to remember half the reason these players got such high sales prices is we sold a lot of them real mierda And we all know the mierda’s first rule of transfers: OVERSPEND!!!

i agree on that theo, they throw money here and there and never won money by signing and then selling a player, maybe in two years we’ll sign kaka for 15m

I hope so aquismaia

im not exactly holding my breath for kaka anytime soon…
there has been a lot of talk about pukki… but really ill be interested to see how acosta can do next year. he showed me some real potential before getting hurt last year. hopefully he comes back healthy and plays well. pukki not having made the first team at this point suggests to me he’s still a ways off.
but boy… if we could get negredo… come on del nido! open up the cash box! though we very well could be done with signings at this point assuming we do ultimately hold on to fabiano.

I was only joking about kaka….but i’m sure something could happen. I’m also interested about acosta but i didnt mention him because he’s a supporting striker/ attacking mid so he should be a sort of romaric/ renato replacement. Another one in that sort of position coming up through the atletico ranks is armenteros if think he’s played a couple of games for us.

yes theo at the end of last season he started playing and i think he bagged a goal (armenteros)

Does anyone know whether you can get numbers and names on the new shirts at the sevilla website shop?

Yeah on the website there is the option to add a name/number on the shirt – I believe it’s around 15 euro more.

Things aren’t looking so good in terms of the Gámez deal. Lolo & Duda are both unhappy towards the fact they would have to agree on relegation clauses in their contracts, and suffer a 50% pay cut if Málaga ever drops down to the Segunda. Lolo’s even ready to stay in Sevilla and fight for his place in the squad. If we don’t get Gámez, I think we’ll renew our interest in Sergio Sánchez from Espanyol. He’s already shown interest after being linked with us last month.

back when this blog reported it there were some spanish articles that suggested it was done… in english this is the most recent thing ive seen:
certainly doesnt sound like a done deal from this perspective…

AC Milan are a bunch of clowns. Thank God they didn’t get their slimmy hands on Fabiano. And Lyon’s president made them look silly signing Aly Cissokho from Porto, “bad teeth and all.”

The Gámez deal was practically done. All that was left was personal terms to be agreed on, but it was that very thing that scuppered the deal. According to MARCA, upon completion of the swap deal, Málaga wanted to included a relegation clause in each of Lolo’s and Duda’s contracts. This upset both of them, and that is why it’s been taking a while for the transfer to be official.
AS now reports that we’re about to place a proper bid for Jesús Gámez, but I’m not sure how valid that report is. Sooner or later, I’m pretty sure we’ll get our man.
