Málaga v Sevilla Preview; “The Turning Point”
By: Anthony | March 14th, 2009
This one’s going to have to be quick as I’m hopping on a plane to the Dominican Republic in about two hours. I had to do a preview though because I really do love you guys that much.
This Sunday we travel about two and a half hours down to Málaga in a mini Andaluz derby that could be exactly what the post reads – a turning point. We hadn’t lost in 7 matches to start off the campaign until we lost 1-0 to our fellow Andalucíans at home and that ultimately turned our fortunes around a bit and we hit a bump in our season.
We’ve played awesome in the league of late and we hope to continue that trend this weekend. This could make or break our season right here as we try and push for a higher league position. Real will hopefully be heartbroken and low on morale after their embarrassing 4-0 lost to the hands of Liverpool and Barça has been anything but convincing in recent weeks.
This match is going to be anything but easy seeing as Málaga have probably been the shock team of the season thus far sitting at an impressive 5th spot ahead of La Liga big boys Valencia, Atlético and Deportivo la Coruña – remember, they are a newly promoted team.
One of their main threats this year though has been our man Duda who is on loan there and luckily enough for us he is ineligible to play. Also another one of their standout performers, Jesús Gámez is out injured leaving their backline a bit weaker.
Luis Fabiano is of course back for us and his fitness is almost at its optimum point and as a result he will most likely start alongside Kanouté up top. Also in other great news, Arouna Koné is in the squad for the first time this year after suffering that awful foot injury that has kept him sidelined until today.
Both us and Málaga have been on top form of late and a draw would be a safe bet to put your money on. However, life is a huge gamble and I believe if Jiménez does just that, we can return to Nervión with all three points.

only got to see the first half before the feed crapped out. but i would not call this result just at all.
we DOMINATED. that said we didnt finish our chances and they did. so in that sense its just. but i felt we were the far superior team.

i think what they were really saying was that the come back was just. in that sense, i think we would agree.

yeah, i just breezed through some of the articles, and soccer reporting is just terrible sometimes. but i agree, its just that we didnt come up totally empty handed, but we were by far the better team… hopefully the team comes away with their heads high that they came back from 2 down and focus on some of these “easy” games coming up (not that i take anything for granted with sevilla this year). we could really use 2-3 wins before our stretch of valencia, real, barcelona, villa or whatever it is…
